About Academic Me

I have been passionate about mental health research since the early 2000s. Over the years, I have held various roles in academia, including:

  • Head of Psychology Research in a large mental health trust
  • Head of Research for Psychology in a university department
  • Senior Lecturer in Counselling Psychology, supervising eleven successful DPsy's

I serve on the Editorial Board of several top psychotherapy journals and hold multiple academic positions, including External Examiner for the University of Roehampton's Psychotherapy courses and Honorary Senior Lecturer at City University, University of London. I am dedicated to research that helps free up space for patients. I have designed five psychotherapy modules, all rated 'Excellent' by trainees, and I teach and supervise across clinical psychology, counselling psychology, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis trainings. My current research focuses on epistemic injustice in psychiatry, iatrogenic harm in the NHS and welfare system, and the psychopolitical self. I try to ensure my research creates ideological space for survivor voices to be elevated.
